Join Balance Through Movement for an afternoon Masterclass to deepen your understanding of the human nervous system and how yoga, breath-work, and relaxation exercises can support aging populations, chronic pain reduction and provide stress and anxiety relief.
Yoga, breath-work and relaxation exercises can support and change the way we feel, but what is the science behind why it works?
How can you intentionally create brain-friendly practices that will emotionally, physically and cognitively support and address issues that might arise in you, your students or loved ones? In this workshop we will:
- Review the anatomy and physiology of the brain and related nervous system, including the sympathetic (“fight or flight”) and parasympathetic (“rest, digest, heal”) nervous systems.
- Learn why this knowledge can be therapeutic and helpful to know as a yoga teacher for both yourself and for your students.
- Participate in and learn about "brain-friendly" asana and movement practices for older populations, people with chronic pain, and those living with anxiety.
- Practice pranayama that stimulates, calms, or energizes brain function and can diminish pain receptivity.
*Yoga Alliance CEUs provided for registered yoga teachers.
